Launched in 1999, Atlanta’s nonprofit organization, WEOP is blazing a trail for women in business and this year’s annual celebration of Women’s History Month is no exception. WEOP is not just an organization. For over two decades, this astounding movement has found immense pride in bringing together a vibrant community of women through quality programs, particularly for women of color.

As such, celebrating Women’s History Month is more than just a yearly tradition – it is a cherished cornerstone of the organization. The WEOP Director, a visionary leader with a deep appreciation for the role of women in society, emphasized the importance of acknowledging the past as a way of charting the course for the future. “Our history is what makes us,” she said, “We owe it to the powerful women who have paved the way to our future.”

This year’s theme of “Amplifying Our Voices: Business, Film, Television, and Media,” and the month-long celebration promises to be the ultimate networking event. It will offer resources that inspire and empower women from all backgrounds to reach new heights of success while honoring the brilliant women who are passionate about making their mark in the world.

WEOP’s event got off to an electrifying start this month, thanks to a collaboration with Council Member Marci Collier Overstreet, one of Atlanta’s most dynamic and influential leaders who is making things happen in Georgia. The excitement at the kickoff event was palpable at the stunning Atlanta City Hall Atrium, highlighted by the Mayor of the City of Atlanta, Mayor Andre Dickens, as a featured speaker.

Atlanta is fast becoming a progressive hub of innovation and resources for women in business, a demographic that has long been overlooked. What better way to appreciate this growth than having a remarkable display of WEOP inviting organizations like The Atlanta Women’s Entrepreneurship Institute (WEI) to share the stage at the kickoff event? The event was indeed a celebration of the collective work achieved through the strategic partnership between WEOP and WEI, having collaborated on a federal contract training program and business workshops in the past year.

With relentless dedication, WEOP has been pushing the boundaries by introducing groundbreaking strategies and novel approaches to empower women economically and cultivate their business leadership. The organization is thrilled about the limitless possibilities and promising connections that await at this year’s event! Eagerly anticipating to continue collaborating and partnering with organizations and programs that support women, like WEI, it aims to forge lasting and beneficial partnerships that are sure to empower, educate, and unite women from all walks of life.

March is truly a month of celebration, and WEOP’s annual Women’s History Month celebration is about more than just a commemoration of the achievements of women throughout history. It is a powerful movement that is transforming the narrative of women in business. By amplifying our voices, breaking down barriers, and supporting one another on our journeys, we are changing the world, one step at a time!
